Riiiiight.

Okay fine, I’ll rock this suit like it’s 1977.

Oh I look mad?

Well maybe Santa should issue suits that fit.

As if squeezing me into a Christmas suit in the middle of summer wasn’t “cute” enough my mom gave me this to suck on.

Awesome.

I’m 11 months going on 55 bald and in need of a shave.

Okay enough with the dress up.

We started traveling again! Yippeee!

I’m at a rest stop here.

I went to the Madison farmers market.

It was hot and crowded so we found a quiet place in the shade where I could people watch.

This is outside of the Madison Zoo.

I love it when my brother holds me.

I was also initiated into the Father’s Day shirt tradition. Every each I have to make a shirt for my dad. My brothers had their own Father’s Day onsies when they were little too. Someday mama is going to begged Weewah to make a t-shirt quilt out of them. This year Thing 1 picked a mustache theme for everyone. I was glad I didn’t have to think about what I would put on mine.

They thought it would be cute to make it look like I was balancing on my brother’s shoulders.

You know how I I feel about “being cute”.

I also got to meet lots of people for the first time.

This is my “TT” who I was named after. His name isn’t “TT” (and neither is mine), it’s a nickname mama gave him years ago. It stands for “Twinkle Toes”.

Mama spent lots of time with TT and GG  in high school and college. During one of their visits together she started calling him “Twinkle Toes” because she thought his slippers were cute.

He is pretty cute. Almost as cute as me.

This is GG. She is married to TT. GG stands for “great grandma”. Mama is lucky she still has all her grandparents and I get to meet them!

I met my great grandma Junebug. She has a lot of names too (Judy, Anna, Sugar Plum) but Junebug is our favorite.

I met my Aunt Christine. She is so sweet.

We celebrated my twin cousins birthday. I didn’t get any cake. No fair!

My Papaw Webb wasn’t feeling well on Father’s Day so I went to his house to meet him. He loves babies and was so happy to meet me.

When it’s time to go it’s time to go.

Mama also took pictures of me wearing the outfit my brothers wore when they came home for the hospital.  I didn’t get to wear it to “come home” in since I was born at home!

Mama took so many pictures that I got bored and fell asleep. That didn’t stop mama she took at least 30 more. Geez!

We went to the Indiana Medical Museum where I slept while my brothers looked at brains!

We also visited the Indianapolis 500 Motor Speedway and I sat in a car.

I also sat on my big brother’s lap as we rode around the track.

“Hi mama!”

Next we are going to Wisconsin and Minnesota! My mama writes about in on the Go RVing blog.

Much too soon it was time to say goodbye to my family in Indiana and we hit the road again!

I brought my hands near my cheeks.

I’m lifting my head even though it’s weighs almost as much as the rest of my body.

You thought you were being cute when you sat me in the driver’s seat, didn’t you?
Well, I didn’t.

You think I’m so cute you stare at me even when I’m sleeping.
Wait until 3 a.m.!

You thought it was cute when I met my uncle for the first time.

Apparently, my mom and aunt thought it would be cute to do a selfie with me.

I had doubts about bringing our dogs on the trip with us. We even tried to find temporary foster parents for them but in the end decided they had to stay with us. Even if meant some inconveniences.

Thing One wrote this song for Nico and played it for her on my mom’s piano when we visited Indiana.

Some things are worth being incovenienced for.

Our visit in Indiana felt like we did so much and yet so little at the same time. We’ve been there many times so the pressure to “see things” wasn’t there and our first priority was family.

My parents still live in the same house I grew up in. The house sits on a hill that borders a wood, “the bottom ground”, that, as a child ,was everything from wild jungles to dangerous battlefields. It’s a strange and happy sensation watching our boys drive my mom’s golf cart through the paths just as, if I was lucky, I did with my brother in his golf cart.

Among the days hanging out “at home” we also…

Visited the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Always fun. Always magical. It’s a “must see” if you have kids and are in the Indianapolis area.

Visited the Indianapolis Zoo. I haven’t been in years and was excited to go on an oddly warm January day. I was especially excited to see the gibbons. Funny funky monkeys!

Visited Brookwood Farms. This is the stable where I spent showerless endless days grooming, feeding, water, cleaning, and riding horses. I used to happily sleep outside of my horses stall on a folding lawn chair. Brookwood is run by Rosie, a woman who has spend her life loving animals and kids. Every visit to Indiana includes a visit with Rosie at Brookwood.

“Visited” Slackers Toys R’Us and Walmart after midnight on December 24th in search of Harry Potter legos. Do not do this. Ever.

Ate at Roscoe’s Tacos. Possibly the least Mexican Mexican food ever. In a good way.

Ate at PapaRoux. Po-boys and cajun food in Indianapolis. Don’t judge. It’s good…really GOOD good! Don’t believe me? There was a line out the door in January.

Oh and I spent New Years squealing over pictures of hairless cats hoping Brent might change his mind about another pet. Yeah, I’m loads of fun. Loads.

My realilty and ideals rarely match up and the search for a nomadic home has not been any different.

The Ideal

We’ve been dreaming about this trip for a few years.  In my head, I’ve always seen us rolling down the highway kicking up dust in an old restored bus conversion or even an Airstream. The sun is setting and golden rays reflect off the worn aluminum.  Brent drives along wearing a cardigan with wooden buttons while Bon Iver or Nick Drake plays. My perfectly cherry red pedicured feet rest on the dashboard. The boys hang out together discussing whether they want to read or play Scrabble.

The Reality

Brent is not a big fan of cardigans.  My polish is always chipped.  And the boys torment the cat.

And this…

…the engine.

Brent’s response when we looked at a 1953 vintage bus conversion?  “You don’t have to work on it.”

We’ve been looking at RVs for a few months now. This was one of the first we saw and she charmed me.

I saw character. I  saw myself in vintage aprons. I saw potential.

Brent saw old.  Brent saw me with PMS and no privacy.  Brent saw work.

He’s probably right but take a look at this pad.

I’d love to replace “PRIVATE COACH” with “NEWSCHOOL NOMAD”

Not sure about the toilet flush button.  Seems like trouble.

All of this for $6000.

However, at that price the toilet may be the least of our troubles.

More than likely we’ll end up with something newer, more reliable, more spacious, and, to some a little, “obnoxious”.  Despite my imagination, we are not posing for an Anthropolgie catalogue.  We are going to be living life with two young boys, two pugs, and a cat.  Living life means Brent is going to be working. The boys are going to be schooling and playing.  I’m going to be blogging, cleaning, and cooking sometimes with PMS so a new fangled slide out or two extra room might be nice.

Still a girl can dream.

And the search continues.
